This is why quality education is crucial.
And getting into the right real estate school not only helps you fulfill requirements but increases your knowledge to excel.
Fortunately, there’s no shortage of real estate schools in Portland. In fact, there may be so many that narrowing down your options may be challenging.
To help you out, we did the research for you.
So here are the best real estate schools in Portland, Oregon.
The Best Online Real Estate Schools in Portland, OR
We’re aware that many people have full-time jobs while studying — and those looking to join the real estate industry are no different. If you’re in a similar situation, an excellent option is to complete the required hours through an online real estate school.
That said, here are the 4 best online real estate schools in Portland:
Let’s review each one.
The CE Shop
The first school on our list is The CE Shop. Most people think that they only offer Continuing Education courses (who wouldn’t, with a name like that?), but they offer so much more.
Whether you’re working towards getting your license or renewing it, you’re sure to find something in The CE Shop.
What’s great about the CE Shop is that it offers a course that actively engages the student. You take all the programs on a platform called Leap. It’s a progressive learning portal that includes activities, such as interactive images and true or false scenarios.
It’s a nice departure from just having to read your lessons.
Now, the CE Shop offers 4 pre-licensing packages. Each one contains more material than the last.
- The Course Only — contains the 150-hour pre-licensing content.
- The Standard Package — adds the Exam Prep Edge tool.
- The Value Package — includes contents of the Standard Package and gives 3 additional courses focusing on business building.
- The Premium Package — has everything the Value Package contains, plus a 30-hour post-licensing package for your first renewal.
Unless you opt for the package that only contains the course content, all other packages include a Pass Guarantee. This means that The CE Shop will reimburse you the cost of the initial exam if you don’t pass it on your first try.
OnlineEd
OnlineEd is another solid option for real estate education in Oregon. Industry professionals created the materials, which means it contains practical knowledge.
They’ve been offering online courses since 1998, showing that they’ve managed to withstand the test of time.
Unlike other online schools, OnlineEd only offers 1 option for pre-licensing, which already includes practice tests, an exam simulator, and PDF and Epub ebooks.
Note: If you want to get a feel of what their course looks like, you can try their online demo.
Sure, it might not be as fancy and interactive as the CE Shop, but it will help you learn everything you need to know to succeed in the industry. And for some, that’s all they really need.
AYPO Real Estate
AYPO Real Estate is powered by At Your Pace Online, which offers courses for various professions.
It’s been in business since 2011, making them one of the younger schools on our list. That, however, in no way means it is not worth considering.
You can purchase courses for pre-licensing and continuing education from AYPO Real Estate.
It offers 2 options for pre-licensing — the Oregon Real Estate Broker Pre License and the Oregon Deluxe Real Estate Broker Pre License. The difference is that the deluxe option includes an exam prep course for a discounted price.

FAQs on Real Estate Education in Portland
What are the education requirements in Portland?
Not many people realize how much studying is involved in real estate. The heaviest requirement is when you’re getting your license for the first time.
The state of Oregon requires that you complete a 150-hour pre-licensing course. You’ll also have to pass your school’s final exam as well as the Real Estate State Exam.
Once you have your license, you’ll have to renew it every two years. You can do that by studying 60 hours of classes for your first renewal. Thirty of those are Post-licensing courses, while the rest are for Continuing Education.
The requirement is limited to 30 hours of Continuing Education courses for all renewals after that.
Do I have to finish my course within a specific timeframe?
You’ll have a stricter schedule if you go through in-person classes since these follow specific dates, and there are usually no make-up sessions.
Going through an online real estate school still gives you a timeframe — most courses expire six months after you purchase it — but it gives you more flexibility. For example, if you’re completing your pre-license course, you can spread your 150 hours across the six months, depending on your preference.
You can study as much or as little as you want each time you log on. Your study schedule can be as regular or erratic as you want since you can access the content whenever.
Just make sure you don’t procrastinate too much and end up cramming everything just before your six months are up.
Aside from the price of the course, what other costs do I need to consider?
There’s no straight answer to this question. It mostly depends on your situation.
For in-person classes, you’ll have to spend on transportation since you’ll be traveling to and from school. If you have kids and you have night classes, you may need to get a babysitter to watch them.
For online classes, the price of the course is pretty much the only thing you’ll have to spend on.
Final Words
Choosing the right school for your real estate education puts you on the right path from the get-go. Since you’ll be investing your time and money, you might as well make sure you find what works best for you.
Going through the requirements to jumpstart your new career can put you under a lot of pressure. We’re ensuring you don’t get additional (and unnecessary) stress from going through dozens of options before finding the right real estate school.
